I saw some bias in the article.. Why is a strip club bad? Somebody needs that too...just as somebody needs a church or a mosque..or an islamic/christian/bohemian centre in a place where it is most noticed. .Its 'Have-funds-will-build' day. Democracy hip hip.. I would love to light a candle at ground zero to show my solid solidarity,.... only if an American would light a candle at Union Carbide India..an Indian would light a candle in Pakistan..a Pakistani would light one in Kashmir..a Kashmiri in Afghanistan..an Afghan in Israel, an Israelite in Palestine..The list is endless.Vietnam and their ilk watch from the sidelines..The world's hate brigade are playing' Ring around the Roses, a pocket full of kill'..soon we will All Fall Down while the candles die a slow death..

Thanks for allowing us to repost this, Cory. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts here. I think it's unfortunate that 9/11 has been vastly perceived as a Muslim act. The truth is that the perpetrators of 9/11 would have still carried it out if they weren't Muslim. This was not an attack on Christianity, or any other religion, it was retaliation against our government and our nation's lifestyle. Many suffered, regardless of religion.

Thanks for your thoughts, Todd. I have a problem with the idea of God being lonely. Which I guess is directly related to a problem I have in general with why would a complete God create. And if God was incomplete, as you suggest, what does that say about a view that holds God as eternally complete.

If you believe in the trinity, then God was never ever alone. Ever. God was always in perfect communion as the trinity. So opening that up to share with another being could never be considered an act of self-fulfillment as you seem to suggest.

God created several different kinds of entities. People, angels, seraphim, cherubim, etc. The Bible already says that there are creatures that worship him constantly. If he just wanted constant worship and glory he could have made all angels but He didn't. Look at the garden, what was mankind's relationship with God in the garden? Did Adam just fall on his knees and worship God the whole time He was there? I think there is a clue in that after they had eaten the forbidden fruit that they heard God walking in the garden which to me suggests something closer to friendship or perhaps the relationship of a child to a parent. Another clue is that God creates man in his image and then turns around and says "it is not good that man is alone" so perhaps God himself was lonely and this was the reason for creation. If so, then He wouldn't want constant worship from humans. Worship would certainly have its upsides but alleviating loneliness isn't one of them.

I just finished Miller's newest book which talks about the process of turning Blue Like Jazz into a movie script. He was approached by Steve Taylor (yeah that Steve Taylor) who wants to make a movie of the book.

Thanks for the reminder.. just put it on reserve at the library. Not sure you'll want my "f#d up two cents" on it, but you sold me with the confession booth anecdote.
